Business card/ Logo design
For the final project, I have decided to make a business card/logo for the group I am in rather than one for myself. Off Air is a collective of creatives dedicated to exposing the world to art, music, and culture that has been deemed underground or different for many years. These cultures include Litefeet which is a style of dance that originated in New York and Triphop which is alternative rap music that employs the use of unique sound that is usually used by those in the EDM or Techno scene. As of right now Off Air focus is music and the creating of new sounds and experiences as well as solidifying itself as a record label. Off Air’s audience is, for the most part, the youth, but it also works on incorporating older generations by using old music or art to make new music and art so that everyone can relate in some way.
As weird as it may sound Off Air’s product is culture. Off Air aims to both create and spread culture using music, photography, dance, and creativity. Since Off Air is still in its early stages of developing itself this logo and business card will be geared towards the musical aspect of the collective. Off Air Records product is music and entertainment through dance and visuals. Off Air Records aims to deliver a unique experience as it relates to music because the type of music produced in this collective is not your ordinary rap music, hence the name off air, because it is typically not seen or televised. Off Air Records in a way is also selling the product of self-confidence and being yourself. Off Air Records hope to inspire people to be comfortable in their own skin as well as inspiring them to pursue whatever goal or career they want even if they are considered different or weird.
All in all, I feel that Off Air Records would benefit the most from a logo that employs the use of its name and a simple design. When I hear the words off air I think of television static or the red, blue, and yellow screens that appear on television when something is being tested. Besides the static, I feel that a television or record spinning would be an accurate way to describe or portray the creativity and name of Off Air records. Coupled with these images would be the name of the company, Off Air Records, with a tagline along the bottom in smaller font that reads dedicated to the culture. I believe a serif style font would be best for the name of the company to portray seriousness and drive while the tagline text would be in a sans-serif type of font. The back of the card would have detail such as social media, email addresses and any other important information.
